America's nightime host Delilah has published her first book, "Love Matters". The books focus is on the concept that at the end of the day all we have is the love we carry for ourselves and others. Delilah makes a strong point of saying, "the opposite of love is not hate, it's selfishness". I thought about this profound statement and concluded that she is right because it takes for one to like someone to actually hate them. It is imperative that we look at what we consider to be and how we act in the name of love.
Are you a selfish lover? When loved ones are in need do you continue to think of yourself first? Consider a man being laid off from his job during this recession and needing his wife to be supportive and hold down the fort. Do you unselfishly put your plans of going to school on hold to support your family; or do you bottle resentment toward your husband for losing his job and thus act negatively towards his person. This is a great example of putting ones needs to the side temporarily to prioritize in the name of love.
I will say we all have room to grow in this area. But I can assure you that God created us to be stewarts of love first. Check out the book, "Love Matters" by Delilah by visiting her site, www.delilah.com/home/home.html

At times, we all tend to think of self and be quite selfish. I don't feel it's on purpose. It's just that we're all human and it's apart of human life that we get like that sometimes. In spiritual maturity between a man or woman, one does learn to blossom intellectually, in terms of thinking of someone else and what makes someone else happy.
ReplyDeleteYes, I definitely agree that we all have room to grow in that area. I've been working on my part to grow in that avenue. So far, it's working, and I'm sometimes looking at myself and feeling shocked, because maturity in that part is slowly kicking in! :-)
